Our Winter Solstice Workshops, Winery Tour and Dinner Dance is organised and ready to take off!  Workshop venue is the Turner Bowling Club, McCaughey St, Turner.  Restaurant venue Zen Yai Thai, 111 London Circuit from 7pm followed by the Dance Party at Salsabor studio, 11 - 13 East Row, Canberra from 9pm.  Tickets still available to the Dance Party at the door.

Anyone interested in a weekend away in Melbourne in October?  We want to get 10 Audacity dancers to travel there with us.  If you register your interest, I will keep a watch out for cheap airfares and a hotel location where we can all decamp and party.  We will have special, low cost sessions to work on technique, style, etc if we get more than 8 registering interest.  We will do this at least monthly on a Saturday or Sunday for an hour or so.

The Australian Open WCS championship is on the weekend of the 19th – 21st October.  There are event Earlybird tickets available until June 30th.  You don’t have to enter the comps.  It is a great event to just be a spectator and go sightseeing inbetween events.  Cost can be kept right down if you have relatives in Melbourne.  We can also seek billets if you are cash strapped.  There are seven top US Pros booked for the event conducting 8 WCS workshops!  Pick up a flyer at class. Here is the registration link - http://australianopenwcs.com.au/register-now/

Steps to take:

  1. Let me know if you want to be on the watch list for cheap airfares and accommodation
  2. Register at the above link (save $40 if you do it by 30 June 2012)
  3. Start saving $40 a week to cover most of your expenses
Our Monday night class at Salsabor will stop for a mid term break on the 9th July.  The next term starts on the 23rd July.  When you register, please advise that you have been referred to the class by Mark from Audacity Dance.

The next Stomp charity dance is on the 11th August at the historic Albert Hall with the theme being - "To Russia with Love".  Main dance style will be Latin!  Interested?  Then purchase your tickets here.

June News - no Blues

Reward for those Continuing Level students who support us in the Beginner level

We have a number of Continuing Level students who support our new Beginners by attending the 7:15pm class and joining in as Leads and Follows.  On several occasions, new students have expressed their appreciation that the more experienced dancers still come along to make the transition to WCS an enjoyable experience.  Your smiles and support are appreciated.  The reverse is also true where our more experienced dancers have told us how rewarding the experience is to see brand new starters with smiles and laughter and dance moves coming together after a few short weeks.  Keep it up folks!

Wine Tour details – 23rd June – new discount offer ($40 discount ends 9th June!)

We have decided to make a few changes to the Wine Tour.  We have decided to bring the Dinner Dance back into Canberra so that means the Winery Tour will return back to the ACT by 6pm.  This will give everyone 90 minutes to get ready for the Dinner Dance.  We still aim to visit 4 wineries and will be entertained by live music and dancing at our first stop.  The Wine Tour includes lunch as well as tastings at 4 wineries and a lesson in WCS Steals!  For those of you not in the know, wineries charge between $5 and $10 for tastings.  Our price for the Winery Tour on its own is $100 but as a special incentive, we are offering 10 stand alone tickets to join the Bus tour for $60 if purchased by 9th June (this Saturday).  Here is the link – the discount will be applied immediately.  http://audacitywintersolstice.eventbrite.com/?discount=EB040

Dinner Dance changes – join us at the Kurrajong for a sumptuous 3 course meal and dancing

We decided to bring the Dinner Dance back to the Kurrajong Hotel based on the great reviews of the venue and the food package.  We have chosen the 3 course menu option this time around and the raw cost to us is $75.  That makes the standalone discounted ticket to the Dinner Dance at $80 exceptional value for money.  The Kurrajong has that authentic 1930s decor, fireplaces, and great floor for dancing.  We have a DJ organised for the night and displays of WCS, Latin, Balboa and maybe some other styles.  Here is the link with the discount applied immediately.  http://audacitywintersolstice.eventbrite.com/?discount=EB010

Combined Wine Tour and Dinner Dance - $50 discount till 9th June – numbers limited!

In order to reflect the above changes, we are now offering a one-off earlybird discount of $50 on the combined Winery Tour and Dinner Dance.  This also applies to the first 10 purchases and the offer expires on the 9th June – this Saturday.  Be very, very quick!  Here is the link with the discount applied.  http://audacitywintersolstice.eventbrite.com/?discount=EB050

Workshop content

Saturday morning workshop - Fun Syncopations Sunday workshop 1 - Essential Elements and Walk the Line Sunday workshop 2 - Styling Your Dance to the Music Sunday workshop 3 - It’s all about accents - hitting musical breaks.  Earlybird discounts apply as does discounts for 2 or more workshops.  Read the description at this link and apply the relevant discount code at the base of the page to apply the discount.  http://audacitywintersolstice.eventbrite.com.au/

October Continuing Level focus – Reversing Spins

We are always looking to improve our teaching.  During the month of October we will be focussing on Reversing Spins.  This is a neat dance variation to enhance your Intermediate level WCS.  We have also varied the content of our Beginner level class so we can start a new batch of students on the first Tuesday of every month.  Please tell your friends and acquaintances.  And don’t forget, you get a free class when you introduce a new person to WCS.
